An extremely early and well executed carved wood, gesso and gilt eagle wall piece. The piece appears to be early 19th century and is definitely hand carved. The eagle has a small screw eye and more modern wire for hanging. The eagle appears have been meant to be used as a decorative item rather than being an element from another piece such as a mirror. The gilt is more golden on color versus some of the washed out photos and has a great patina. There are elements o missing gilt and other wear to the piece. Possibly made in America.
