This antique Masonic Lodge shellwork is extremely rare and unique and infrequently encountered in the marketplace. It dates from the early 1900s and is housed in a mahogany frame wooden shadow box with complex molding on the glass door. The piece has an early lime mint green paper lining and the shellwork is surrounded by early ribbon.
The shell frame surrounds the masonic lodge emblem which is done in moss, small shells & dried flowers.
The door has a brass hook for closure.
One would assume the lodge was close to the water due to the shell work. There is some water marks on inner lime liner as well.
The glass is extremely early which is indicative of the age of this piece.
