A well executed hand carved female nude with her outstretched arm holding a piece of flowing fabric and what appears to be the sun in the upper corner. The piece was carved from an old piece of wood and was then painted with a red surface and an overlay of gilt. There are hints of the red paint throughout the piece. The back of the wood has a nice, old patina.
The piece is extremely three dimensional and very sculptural. The top and bottom are flat and the back is not carved or painted. The piece is meant to sit upright as it does nota he a hanger for the wall.
It is in nice condition.
